Following his service in the military, he began his career in insurance as Senior Vice President and Agency Secretary for Shelby Insurance Company—America's oldest multiple-line insurance company. Mr. Dunathan then went on to establish an independent insurance agency in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1967. When he sold it a decade later, it was ranked as one of the 100 largest brokerages in the country. Then, from 1977 to 1984, Mr. Dunathan served as the Senior VP for National Accounts at Insurnet, Inc..

A Record of Success
Immediately before founding Shelby Insurance Services, Inc., he was Founder, President, and CEO of Anchor Pacific Underwriters, a public company that provided insurance brokerage, claims administration, employee benefits consulting, and more throughout the western United States. In 1999, Business Insurance Magazine ranked Anchor as the 61st largest insurance brokerage in the entire country. Following the sale of Anchor in 2000, Mr. Dunathan founded Shelby Insurance Services, Inc.
